Chazz Palminteri’s ‘A Bronx Tale’ – Dec. 14 – Bergen Performing Arts Center, NJ

The fall events season is upon us! In addition, that means the Bergen Performing Arts Center of New Jersey is ready to unleash a fury of spectacles guaranteed to redefine “a night out”.

On December 14, Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale – which he starred in himself along with Robert De Niro in the film version – will take to the stage at the Center, bringing with it all the charm and street cred flair the show exhibited when it was first performed by Palminteri himself back in 1989.

    A Brief History

Based on a true story as witnessed by Palminteri when he was just nine years old, A Bronx Tale was originally conceived as a one-man show in 1989 about a neighborhood murder.

Performed at a cozy theater in Hollywood, California, A Bronx Tale and Palminteri’s solo performance took the concept of the “one-man-show” to staggering new heights, becoming the most sought-after property since Rocky.

With only 200 left in the bank and million dollar offers on the table, Palminteri refused to sell his ingenious play to any production organization unless he was able to play the lead of “Sonny” himself – and wrote the screenplay.

The waiting proved worthwhile, as the result was a successful motion picture version of his Bronx Tale, starring Robert De Niro as the father of the boy who ends up witnessing the murder.

The film has become something of an underground sensation, boasting electrifying bolstering performances from both De Niro and Palminteri.

    The Buzz

Palminteri recently performed A Bronx Tale in Philadelphia, the show running for three days and garnering immense acclaim and appreciation from critics and fans alike.

The autobiographical one-man show written and performed by Palminteri has become a true “one-of-its-kind piece of art” to many aficionados of crime stories and now tickets for the show – including the performance scheduled to rock the Bergen Performing Arts Center in December – are in high demand since the word has gotten out about how remarkable the presentation actually is.

The Bergen Performing Arts Center continues to represent northern New Jersey’s busiest not-for-profit performing arts venue, home to hundreds of world-class performances at affordable prices reaching audiences of over 250,000 each year.

On December 14, Chazz Palminteri will perform the original one-man show he did in 1989 that made him a star.
